Veronica Popescu, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, Romania

Veronica Popescu is lecturer in the Department of English, “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iasi,
teaching various classes in British and American literatures, film studies and film adaptation.
She has published a series of articles on Romeo and Juliet, on translation as a cultural
phenomenon and on film. In the past year she has contributed with a short study and a minianthology of Romanian translations to William Shakespeare’s Sonnets. For the First Time
Globally Reprinted. A Quatercentenary Anthology (1609-2009), edited by Manfred Pfister
and Jürgen Gutsch, and she has written a Postface for the latest translation of William
Shakespeare’s Sonnets into Romanian (2010), edited by George Volceanov.
